IN HER QUIET WINDOW

Tang Poem 300: #265

IN HER QUIET WINDOW
By Tang Poet Wang Changling

The young wife
In her bedroom
Knows not about sorrow.

In a sunny spring day,
She puts on makeup
And walks up to her green chamber.

In suddenness she sees
The green willows
Shade the side of road,

Then sorrow strikes,
And she regrets;
It’s too bad to push her husband to chase for ranks.

閨怨
王昌齡

閨中少婦不知愁,
春日凝妝上翠樓。
忽見陌頭楊柳色,
悔教夫婿覓封侯。
