Girl’s Sadness for Spring

Girl’s Sadness for Spring
By Poet: Mr. Zhu Jiang (Tang Dynasty)
Translated by Laijon Liu

Sitting alone by the curtained window,
A girl is slowly sewing her embroidery.
Outside, under the purple flower bush,
The orioles are singing their love song.
How shall one know about her mood,
Her endless sadness at this springtime?
It’s in the lengthy halt of her fingers,
And by her silence that tells no word.

独坐纱窗刺绣迟,
紫荆花下啭黄鹂。
欲知无限伤春意,
尽在停针不语时。
