To Learn about the Fear
Laijon Liu 20240219
Being slow to make sense of the world
and eyes are fixed on the will-o-the-wisps
priests in ghostly white robes just playin silly
and travel in a dead man’s wagon, cuddle the corpses for warmth
thru the dark corridors, down off the echoing stairs
you are picked for the hero role on a mayhem stage
skulls rolling like dices, tuning rounds of Russian roulette
legs in boots dancing in the fireplace and peeping eyes in the walls
how about a card game, buddy?
deal the henchman’s dogs and cats’ paws
the nights in the castle, a theme park of horror
and you can’t flinch and you got to stare
that’s how you win the kingship prize
get to hold the princess’ hand and shiver.
- The princess' love makes every common man shiver, Her love makes you shiver -
Note:
there's a great film, The Princess Bride. not related this poem. but the guy has to go thru hell to win her hand.
Princess calls the kid farm boy, and the farm boy replies As you wish.
