Loneliness

Loneliness
passes
through the neon-light Time Square
Loneliness
skims over the passenger faces
on
the subway cars
the
traffic lights above every street corner
signal
red, green, yellow
people
walk across the zebra lines
to
attend their daily routine
rhythms
of our heartbeat
drum
through the stethoscopes
waves
on the cardiac monitor screen
show
a constant state
the
keys on our keyboards
numbers,
alphabets, symbols
compose
infinite shape of squiggles
all
that is a phrase we try not to say
