Leprosy

Leprosy
Laijon Liu 20161030

The virus of leprosy takes billion pyramid forms
And it passes down its program in our DNA
It gradually deforms our faces and hands
And attacks our eye and brain at last stage
We lose our basic functions, yet painless

It’s contagious, pandemic and untreatable
Patients must do lifetime self-quarantine
Like in biblical time how they exiled
Separated from their families, friends
And rebuilt their own infected neighborhoods

Robots

Robots
Laijon Liu 20161028

Robots, Robots are taking our life
Unmanned tractors in the fields
Pills bottled on the assembly belts
Market forecast and stock price
Daily broadcast their fluctuation
A screen-device hooked all of us

Men walk out of their factories
Women leave their sewing lines
They hop into their pickup trucks
And drive around searching
Searching for their old country
That kept a roof over their heads

The US Job Myth

The US Job Myth

Every election I hear both parties sing Creating Jobs that always bothers me because I am more of spreadsheet and chart guy.

I don't think Creating Job can really solve the Jobless problem, today's capital economy and job situation are not same as post war.

manufacture and agriculture industries are totally changed by Automate production and global cost-cutting trade system. of course, many parents want their kids to go to college, hopefully their kids fight for good job, but other parents and their kids are competitive too, the pie gets smaller and smaller and kids grow tougher and smarter, but after they finish their college or higher degree there still won't be enough jobs for most of them. the jobs are going aboard, won't come back, the material and labor cost are just too cheap in Asia and Africa. the jobs replaced by robotic tech will continue run by robots and more cheaper better robots are on the way.

I am afraid of our politicians need to be practical, go do simple research about our job industry and economy structure, use their spreadsheet and charts to understand Creating Job Solving Everything is Truly a Myth.

I did a quick research and spreadsheet by following online resources, I hope my formulas and numbers are wrong. But it looks logical.

the Income column is my guess.
the job industry info from Bureau of US Labor Statics
the US population is from US Census
the rest are easy, just simple math.
my result of current jobless rate btwn age 18-65 is 11%
Federal 20 million employees
Military 2 million personals
In prison 4 millions (included as jobless)
Add Federal, Military and Incarcerated to jobless because the position does not help grow economy, that's 20%.
the current unemployment rate from Dept of Labor is 5%.
There are 5-6% (5-6 millions) Americans live on foraging, live off the land I guess.
Most of the industry jobs are below $50000 income,
birthrate remain the same so that's 2 kiddos per couple,
Most working people are below poverty line.
Most of Americans should get food stamps, medicaid and tuition aid for middle class too. Scary.

Job Income % Pie chart:
jobs income above $70000 are 15%
jobs income around $50000 are 33%
jobs income below $50000 are 52% (60% if Federal and Military are included)

US Educational Attainment 2014 link
Master degree above: 15%
Some College: 45%
Non-College: 40% (include HS graduate and drop out)

Result Pie Chart:
Masters and Doctorates suppose to get the top 15% jobs (income 70K), but those jobs are in mining (0.56% of all Industry), manufacturing (8.10% with 14.86% Growth decrease), information (1.82% with 12.14% Growth decrease), and Finance(5.3% with 1.55% Growth decrease)
People with some college degree are 45% competing for jobs (income 50K) with masters and doctorates.
Jobs income below 50k are 52% of the pie for 45% some college degree holders, 40% HS graduate and drop out.

The economy system is built
60% jobs are below 50k, that's under the poverty line that can't support house and a kid
30% jobs are good 50k middle class jobs that can afford traditional family value financially
10% jobs are for top of class 70k, highly educated career people with heavy student debt

High Education is not the solution to solve the job problem, only creates more social unrest if 50% or more are highly educated fighting for 15% high pay jobs, especially Agriculture, and Manufacturing were major job posts now all replaced by robots and global low-cost market.

From 2004 to 2014, US job growth is only 5%.

Where is Bob my Dylan? :)

Where is Bob my Dylan? :)

Poets are Singers in ancient time, and today too. Confucius compiled 300 Odes (Link1, Link2)that worshiped by ALL Chinese poets to nowadays, it's considered Number One Book tops all other Classics, and most of the poems are short, composed in song forms for singing. more love songs than political and other topic. Tang dynasty poems are originally composed to sing, Song dynastic lyrics (Song Ci, link1, link2) are all composed for singing, Yuan Dynasty opera lyric (Yuan Qu, link1, ) are composed to sing on the stage, on the dinner table.

Long poem is about structure of narrative, needs more time to work on. Homer
Epic poem thru time develops to drama, short story, prose, and novel.
Short poem is about density, craft art, scope in simplicity. Asian Poetry
Short poems are songs thru time develops into short verses that rhyme or not.

Sappho is another Greek example of songwriter poet. Many folksong writers possess better verse skill than poets, and simplicity is soul of poetry and art. (Scarborough Fair, The Wayfaring Stranger) (Psalm 23 to gain a huge flock of conservative evangelical head-nodders) Also, The Star-Spangled Banner of amateur poet Francis Scott Key (wikipedia calls amateur, but this poem is much better than mature professional academia famous poets, I rate the poems in two categories: poems that sing, a few; poems that suck, a lot :-). So I think the case is closed. If anyone hears the following Bob 2 songs and ponders on the lyrics would not mistake Bob Dylan is a songwriter Poet and a singer.

Of course many 4 eye pedants might jealous Nobel awards Bob the Literature prize, Why Not?

Bob‘s songs are more influential than many novels, a lot novels knock people to sleep reading 2 pages, and worse if readers stick it out still would not understand the ‘literature’ and multi-layered confusing theory styles and Oxford English Dictionary seems not enough, the readers have to get French, Italian, German, and Chinese Dictionaries would help them to complete the 500 pages journey that should end in really 50-100 pages, literally.
Literature is about Quality not Quantity in pages and units. One great song or a short poem beats 800 pages fancy words novel every time! Poets respect readers time.
Poetry exists in many forms, in novel, in lyrical essay (prose), in strict regulated verse, in haiku, epic, or even non-grammatical hodgepodge, exp: Writing by Marguerite Duras.
Also I bet many poets listen to Bob more than they read their own poems because good things last and pass under daily scrutiny.

I am happy Bob is awarded by Nobel, it’s been long time coming for other lyrical poets too since ancient time.

Two Bob Dylan’s song lyrics to state Bob is awesome poet.  (also, be practical, go to Barnesnoble this weekend, leaf thru literature magazines, include the New Yorker and Poetry Mag, see if there are two better touching poems than the following, plus Bob's poems Sing)

Blind Willie McTell (Favorite Bob's Song)

Well, I heard that hoot owl singing
As they were taking down the tents
The stars above the barren trees
 Were his only audience
 Them charcoal gypsy maidens
 Can strut their feathers well
But nobody can sing the blues
 Like Blind Willie McTell

 See them big plantations burning
Hear the cracking of the whips
 Smell that sweet magnolia blooming
See the ghosts of slavery ships
I can hear them tribes a-moaning
 Hear that undertaker’s bell
 Nobody can sing the blues
 Like Blind Willie McTell

---

How many roads
must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
How many seas
must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, and how many times
must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?

Yes, and how many years
can a mountain exist
Before it is washed to the sea?
Yes, and how many years
can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, and how many times
can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?

Yes, and how many times
must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, and how many ears
must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, and how many deaths
will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?

When You Are a Star

When You Are a Star
Inspired by a pop star

When you are a star
You can do anything

You can grab your love
By her pulse, yeah

Move on the beautifuls
And kiss them heavily

Sunset on the Palm Beach
Luxury in the furniture stores

Yeah, You are a star
You can do anything

Note:
I don’t want to jump on the bandwagon, but this is great line from recent political news that truly speaks for today’s society since we men are valued by our ability, power and capital, fight it out social market structure. There’s truly some truth in it that describes current situations of the people, who are stars, made by our system thru generations in both religious and political institutes, stars can have everything, have their greatness, protected from bankruptcy, bailed out by taxpayers (not buyout), skip military duties, taxes, and moral standard, we American use to say: “Grab You by the Balls” by Our Boss, so We bear the pain in the V$$” that’s just daily life, and politicians they are grabbed by the Vote Counts, they don’t give crap who is leading their party as long as their boat of voters are safe, otherwise they’ll jump ship.
It’s not really a statement degrading women; it’s about the strong preying on the weak.
It’s powerplay, that happens almost everywhere in the world.
I really love his line: “When you are a star, You can do anything!” So I must get some star power. I can’t help it, I addict to beautiful, for this kind of poetic line, it’s like magnet, ya know, I’ll twitch. :D
Also, the second debate that bully, well coward is his correct name, imagine some dude like him stare and intimidate your mom or wife on street, don't you want to bust him wide open? I am not a gentleman on many things, I really respect Chelsea and Bill just watch on the sideline, deal that anger.

Dream Boat

Dream Boat
Laijon Liu 20161005

Dream is a slow, sinking boat
Her gigantic body incapable of
weight-lift a world of sorrows

Those countless lines n ropes
Tightly trussed around her
Towing our desperate hope
